وافقت إيطاليا على انطلاق طائرات أميركية مسلحة بلا طيار من قاعدة جوية في صقلية للقيام بمهام دفاعية ضد تنظيم داعش في شمال أفريقيا، حسبما أعلن رئيس الوزراء الإيطالي ماتيو رينتسي يوم الثلاثاء.

وأضاف رينتسي في مقابلة مع راديو “آر.تي.إل” “إنها مسألة عمليات ضد الإرهابيين وضد مهاجمين محتملين من داعش وهناك علاقة وثيقة بيننا وباقي الحلفاء خاصة الأميركيين.”

وأضاف رئيس الوزراء الإيطالي أن التفويض سيُمنح “وفقا لكل حالة على حدة”. وكان رينتسي شدد مرارا على أن إيطاليا لن تشارك في أي ضربات عسكرية في ليبيا ما لم تطلب ذلك صراحة حكومة معترف بها.

وقال مسؤول بوزارة الدفاع الإيطالية في ساعة متأخرة الليلة الماضية إن بلاده وافقت على المهام الدفاعية فقط وليس الهجومية.

وكانت واشنطن شنت خلال الساعات الماضية غارة جوية استهدفت تجمعا لمسلحي داعش في ليبيا قتل فيه نحو 50 من التنظيم المتشدد.
